Summer So Far!

Hey friends!

How is everyone's summer going? It's nice and hot (just how I like it haha! ;)). I'm feeling grateful for all the kind words and prayers - thank you from the bottom of my heart! (In case you missed my last post you can read it here)

The kids are at a fun stage where they actually are playing together and it's so great to watch them interact and build a friendship. Of course there are little arguments and learning to share, but I know deep down they love each other. Riley didn't want to go for a sleepover at grandmas without Brynn which was so sweet! And the first thing Brynn asks for in the morning is "Wiley".

Exciting News!

Riley has been asking a lot of questions about heaven, especially as his Groß Opa passed away recently. As we were driving one day he asked when he will get to go to heaven and how he will get there. First of all, I love how kids can bring up these topics at the most random times and catch you off guard! I definitely wasn't expecting this deep conversation, but nonetheless took the opportunity to explain and we had a little conversation about this and he said, "I want Jesus to live in my heart!" And he prayed just that! Of course I was in tears and we were driving so I couldn't even hug him haha. We called daddy and Riley told him "Jesus lives in my heart now!" I love how excited he is about this! It really puts into perspective child-like faith and I'm so excited to watch him continue to grow and ask questions!

He went to VBS (vacation bible school) for his first time and loved the music, learning new songs, stories and doing crafts. I grew up going to VBS and it's so great he can have this experience as well!

Summer So Far...

We've been loving going to the lake on weekends. It works out really well because both my family and Scott's have places near each other so we can see everyone and hang out! The kids love boat rides and watching everyone surf. Riley has been biking almost everyday and it's such a nice pace to go for walks while he bikes! And it's definitely a lot lighter not having to push both of them in the chariot stroller.

Brynn went on her first "wee doo" (sea doo) ride! This girl doesn't have a lot of fear in her which I admire, but this also means she needs a close eye on her most of the time haha!

We just went strawberry picking and it's an annual event where a friend and I go with all the kiddos! It's always so much fun to pick strawberries and visit the petting farm! Of course the kids eat more than they pick and have strawberry stained faces to show for it haha! Brynn has a real love for animals and I'm sure when she's old enough she will be asking us to get all the animals haha!

Baby Shower!

We had a baby shower for my sweet sister in law Lisa and it was such a great time! How cute is my niece Heidi?! We had a really chill night with lots of great food, friends, a fun baby jeopardy game, "mom-osas", gifts and of course baby cuddles!

I've been reading a really great book called "Wild and Free" and I felt challenged and reminded to focus on thanking God for his blessings around us. This gives us an instant perspective adjustment and the gratitude shifts our focus to blessings! In a world where there can be so much temptation to compare or feel like you have to "keep up" to be enough, I found this as such a great reminder and encouragement!

Have a great rest of your week friends!

Love,

Lindsay
