Hey friends!
If you didn't know already I love love love baby showers or wedding showers! It's so fun going to showers to bless other people in the stage of life they are in, and it's also fun planning the showers and coming up with decor, food and games!
My sister in law, Kelly and my brother Lars recently had a baby boy and we had a baby shower for him yesterday! I thought I would share a bit about what we did for food, games, decor, drinks, and a short devotional for new moms.
Here's a pic of my sweet nephew Leif! Seriously love him to bits.

Food
My mom and I looked on good 'ol Pinterest for some baby shower ideas and we saw this baby carriage and had to try to make it! You take a watermelon and carve it out and fill it with fruit salad. The baby head is an orange with blueberries as eyes and a soother to make it look more babyish. For the wheels we used orange slices and stuck them on with toothpicks. We covered the toothpick end with a blueberry. The baby carriage looked so cute!

We had an ice cream bar with different toppings and sauces. We had caramel, chocolate and strawberry sauce. For the toppings we had chocolate chips, skor pieces, mini Reece's pieces, butterscotch chips and blue sprinkles. (all found at bulk barn!)
We set up a little candy bar, and found a lot of blue candies at bulk barn that we put into glass jars. We had various desserts like cream puffs, brownie, rice crispy and pretzels with icing and sprinkles.

We also had a veggie platter with hummus, some nachos and salsa, and crackers and cheese. I think it's safe to say we had enough food probably for 5 baby showers haha!

Drink
We made punch (because every shower needs punch right? haha!) with orange juice, lemonade, grenadine, water and sprite. We also had a berry Sangria made with Steeped Tea Summer Berry Sangria mix, a rosé wine and a bit of sprite.

Games
We played two short games which were really fun! The first was an animal baby gestation game where you had to match the number of gestation days with the correct animal.
The other game we played was The Price is Right Baby edition! We bought various baby items and then everyone had to guess the cost of them. The person who had the closest total to the actual total won! You can click here to find the free print outs for the games!

Decor
We had a couple balloon bouquets (the dollar tree has quite a big selection of balloons!), as well as some "baby boy" themed plates, a banner, cups, plastic soothers and baby blocks to decorate the food table. We made some signs for the food, drink and guest book from chalkboard paper and a white marker. We hung a strand of pictures with cute mustache pins! For the guest book I found a baby album at Home Sense and filled it with some newborn pictures. Under each picture was a space for people to write a word of advice, encouragement and sign their name! It worked really well as a guest book!

Encouragement for New Moms
I shared a short devotional for Kelly, my sister in law, and I thought I would share it here in case there's any new moms who may need some encouragement, or if you need something to share at an upcoming shower!
When I became a mom for the first time almost 4 years ago, I remember the overwhelming sense of responsibility when we first walked out of the hospital doors with our brand new baby boy. There seemed to be so much joy, but also so many new worries about this new child. Is he eating enough, did he poop today, is he comfortable, sleeping well, why is he fussing, am I doing this right?? My brain felt overloaded with anxiety. I'm sure you are feeling some of these things and it's completely normal. By worrying you are showing how deep your love is for this little boy already! Some advice that was given to me was to let my worries become my prayers, and this was such great advice. By lifting these things up to God I felt a weight lifted and that I wasn't alone in all these new challenges and experiences.
Some days may feel so repetitive: feed, sleep, poop, play, repeat. But one thing I had heard that really stuck with me as a new mom was that God is in every moment, even those that may seem as small, everyday, mundane moments. He is always at work, even though we may feel like we are only changing diaper after diaper. We may not realize it but we are serving our kids and Him through these selfless acts.
Romans 8:28 "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose."
Now this little one has taken over nearly every waking moment, but one piece of advice that was given to me was to make time for your husband and go on dates! This is a bit tougher in the early months of a newborn, but some ideas for dates are having a movie night, go for a coffee or ice cream date, enjoying those drives together as it may feel like a mini date and is a great way to connect. Your child(ren) will look up to your marriage one day and value how you put your marriage first!
Lastly, and this can be tough if you're anything like me, but don't be afraid to ask for help. I remember feeling so guilty asking for help and thinking, other moms can do this, I should be able to do this. But in all reality it does take a village to raise a child! We are here to support, love, and pray for you guys!

I hope you guys found this helpful and maybe gave some ideas for a future baby shower!
Love,
Lindsay
