This month Brynn is 20 months! (If my sister is reading this I know she's thinking why do you always have to say their age in months?! Haha!) It seems like yesterday I just held her in my arms and now she's running at full speed everywhere and learning to talk!

This past weekend I was going to post something fairly personal but things got busy and emotions were high so I just couldn't, but now I feel that the timing is right. :)
Before Brynn came into our lives we had a miscarriage which was one of the most difficult times. May 6, 2015 would have been the due date and it's a date I will never forget. It's crazy how dates can sneak up on your and pull at your heartstrings - dates of lost loved ones, birthdays, anniversaries, a due date and miscarriage. Grief can be overwhelming. We may not understand the loss or why it happened, but we can find peace that we will one day be reunited again in heaven in His perfect love.
The saying "it takes a village" is so true when raising children, but also when going through difficult times and heartache. It is such a gift from God that we can support one another and surround each other with love, a shoulder to cry on, encouragement, support, meals, and prayers. We feel other's pain and it brings us into closer community by being there for one another through these seasons. 1Thess. 5:11 " So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing."
I've been encouraged by so many beautiful women in my life. I was scared to talk about it for awhile because I didn't want to put anyone in an awkward or uncomfortable situation. But really that's what we are here for - to build each other up and support one another no matter what we are going through! Once I started opening up about it, I felt healing take place, and I began hearing other women's journeys and didn't feel alone in it anymore. A couple of things that really helped me was journalling thoughts and verses of encouragement people gave, as well as a book someone gave me called Grieving the Child I Never Knew.
A letter to heaven where our little Makenna is:
Dear little one,
I can't believe you would be 2 years old now. I can only imagine what you would look like, how you would run hair swept over your face, giggling. What your personality would be like. You were born on thanksgiving 2014 so tiny and perfect at 10.5 weeks. The pain of the loss was so hard, but we were surrounded with such love and support, and God's peace and comfort. You are a precious gift, fearfully and wonderfully made. Love you always.
Brynn came into our lives on September 15, 2015! She is so full of energy and joy and really keeps us chasing after her. She's at a fun stage where her vocabulary is exploding so I can't even keep up all the words that she knows! The ones she says best are "Why-leee" (Riley), mommy, daddy, cheese, happy, hot, baby, "daan-duu" (thank-you) and NO!
She loves being independent and doing things herself like getting her jacket and shoes on, eating, and climbing up on anything (which you may have seen on my Instagram). She is a little goofball full of curiosity, adventure and mischief! Oh and definitely has some meltdowns and tantrums as well!

She loves food, but can be a bit fussy about meat. I tried dipping it in ketchup (my love for ketchup is still going strong ha!) and she loved it so that's how we get her to eat more meat! She loves all fruits and most veggies and will often have smoothies in the morning. Some of her other favourite foods are: yoghurt, cheese, bread, sweet potatoes and oatmeal.
Fo

She usually wakes up at 7:30. She has a nap in the afternoon for 2-2.5 hours and goes to bed at 7:30. We have used a sleepsack (something we didn't do with Riley) and it has been great! She knows once she's in her sleepsack that its either nap or bedtime. I recently had to get a bigger size for her and I found an Aden and Anais one here that is soft and lightweight for Spring/Summer! She will grab a book to read and then we put her sleep sheep on (white noise maker) and it's lights out. Oh and I can't forget about her bunny - she has to sleep with it and carries it with her throughout the day.

Thank you for reading! Also, if you would like to follow along a dear friend's journey with infertility, miscarriage, PCOS click here. She shares her heart and is so real and raw. She's such an encouragement, inspiration and woman of God. :)
Have a great Tuesday!!
Love,
Lindsay
