We are closer to 14 months now but better late than never! Hallie turned 13 months and she has had some big milestones this past month! She has changed so much, from a baby to a toddler in what seemed like a week!
Milestones
It's official - Hallie is walking! She toddles around and it's the cutest thing to watch. She still has plenty of bum plants, but is getting less wobbly on her feet everyday! The kids get so excited to see her walking and the "newness" of it hasn't worn off. Every time she's walking on her own they yell, " MOM, Hallie is walking!!!" It's really sweet. If she falls they rush to help her and also make sure the baby gate is closed as she loves to go up the stairs.
She has started saying more words and so far says hi, pup, mama, dada, yes, more and dat (that) while pointing. She waves hi and bye, gives hi-fives and has begun signing a few more words! We used baby sign language with all of our kids and loved it because they could communicate what they wanted, and wouldn't become as frustrated by trying to communicate. So far she signs more, please and milk.
Favourite Toys
She is climbing onto and into everything, opening and closing all the drawers and loves to put things into the play shopping cart or fill up bowls/containers with random toys. She also loves to play with the kid's kitchen and this will occupy her for quite awhile! It is so nice that she likes to play on her own and will entertain herself or follow her siblings around. This interactive Leapfrog house has been a favourite of all my kids and Hallie plays with it constantly.
She has started to play with cars and makes little "vroom" noises. She looooves her jellycat bunnies and elephant, and this is the bunny blankie she can't sleep without!
Now that it's nice outside, she has found a whole new world to explore, and it's so fun watching her discover new things outside, going on the swing and picking up every rock and stick. If you give her a ball she will throw and chase after it. I can already tell this summer is going to be so much fun with her!
Sickness
Hallie had back-to-back ear infections in both ears which was so hard on her. She was cranky, not sleeping well and didn't have an appetite. She went on antibiotics, and I also have been using natural garlic ear drops recommended to me by a friend and holistic nutritionist and so far they have been working great! I researched some probiotics after asking for recommendations and tried the Nova probiotic powder for kids and it has been great! It has super clean ingredients, no sugar, and is non-gmo.
Mealtimes
Hallie loves food and has been branching out and trying new things! For awhile she was caught up on textures and would spit things out. Here are some of her favourite foods and some ideas for mealtimes with your 1 year old!
Breakfast: scrambled eggs with cheese, yoghurt which chia seeds and berries, banana, oatmeal with apple and cinnamon, banana egg pancake, toast with peanut butter or avocado (or both!), sausage
Lunch: this girl loves cheese so she usually has some cheese with crackers, turkey meat, cucumbers, peppers, soup, she loves annie's organic pasta and has lately been on a watermelon kick!
Supper: she will have whatever we are having, just cut up! This makes meals a lot simpler not that we are out of the puree stage. Some of her favourites are tacos, shredded chicken, butter chicken, sweet potatoes, cooked veggies and spaghetti
I love getting meal ideas so if you have any that are your kids favourites, send them my way!
Personality
Hallie is so sweet, full of smiles and goofiness. We love her scrunchy face. She gives kisses and is full of cuddles before nap and bedtime! She can be loud and protests getting into her carseat. (she really has never been a fan of the carseat from day 1!) She shakes her head no and yes and will shout "YESSS". If she sees a dog we will hear "pup pup" and an excited squeal. I just love watching her little personality develop and seeing how she interacts with others is so sweet.
Have a great weekend friends!
xo,
Lindsay
